Steven Hardesty
Director of Operations

Coach Hardestys' enthusiasm and knowledge of the game at such a young age combined with the quality of his character makes him a great asset to all the players that have the privilege of working with him. He is currently working on a master's degree in sports science with an emphasis in strength and conditioning all while balancing his coaching career at two colleges and working with Magdaleno Baseball. Coach Hardesty is one of the up and coming stars in our profession and we're lucky to have him.

Rob Paramo
Director of Field Operations
Catching, Pitching and Hitting Instructor

R.P. is the best all around baseball instructors I have ever been around. He has worked with some of the best coaches in the country and he brings the knowledge that only a 25-year veteran can bring to park. Not only will he help us during the summer camps, but he has agreed to work with with our Fall Bucs Program and he will help prepare our program to move on to the national stage by helping in the organization of our overnight camps with a emphasis on the international community. He has a home in organization for as long as he wants.

Buster Stainland
Roving Specialized Intrutor

What does a Roving Specialized Instructor do? The answer is.........anything he wants! We like to joke about Buster's age. He's heard all the lines, like what was it like to room with Ty Cobb. In fact, Buster did get get to hit off of Satchel Page. The fact of the matter is that Buster has played and coached baseball for most of his life. Some of the best moments for me over the past two years has been the time that Buster and I spend at the batting cage. We talk hitting, catching, pitching, baserunning, whatever pops up. When he talks I listen. His baseball experience and his love of the game make him a plus in any clubhouse.

Jim Irvine
Infield, Team Defense and Hitting Instrutor

One of the best things to happen to Ventura County and its baseball tradition is Jim returning to the high school level where he can use his knowledge and his connections to help his high school players get better and move on to the next level. I'm not sure if he is the only player to come from Ventura County to be named a NCAA Division I All-American, but I am pretty confident that he is the only player from this area to be named All-American and also receive the Outstanding College Athlete of America Award. As an organization we are fortunate to have his talent in our clubhouse and I know that our players will benefit from his knowledge and from his ability to communicate that knowledge.

Steve Holley
Outfield and Hitting Instrutor
"Holls" has the unique ability to teach and deal with young players. He will be in charge of the 5, 6, and 7 year old division this summer and I know that those players will get as much in terms of baseball fundamentals that they can absorb. Most importantly they will have fun playing ball.

Ponch Ortiz
Pitching and Outfield Instructor

Ponch brings out the little kid in all of us. He keeps things loose and at the same time he teaches. He has the ability to teach and maintain discipline. No big deal unless you can do it the way Ponch does, because he gets his job done in a way that makes young players enjoy their learning experience.

Coaching Experience
Reynaldo "Rey Rey" Garcia
First Base and Hitting Intsrutor

This guy is the ultimate team player. Heading into the Regional Playoffs it was decided that Rey Rey wouldn't be in the line-up against Chaffey's all everything righthander. We decided to use a lefthanded hitter in his place. No emotional outburst, he stayed in the game mentally and then in the eighth inning and with the Pirates trailing by 4 runs Rey Rey came off the bench and hit a pinch it grand slam home run to tie the game. The biggest hit in the history of our progam! We won in the 11th, but without the "Shot Heard Around Ventura" we would have been fishing a week earlier. Rey Rey comes to work every day and competes. This is what he does when he instructs. One of the most popular players in the clubhouse and the kids like him even more. How many coaches get a Day named after him? On July 9th of every summer the campers pay tribute to him with "Rey Rey Day."

Coaching:
Collin LaVoie
Infield, Bunting and Baserunning Intructor

He wears his socks up. Wears no batting gloves. They say he's too small, too slow.....the list goes on. He's old school and all he does is win. That's Colin. He understands the game and approaches games like it is the last day of his career. I'm not sure he has many friends outside our clubhouse but we love him. Get him off the field and he's intelligent and respectful and that's what he brings to our camps. The kids understand his approach and he can teach.

Playing/Education:
Zach Anderson
Outfield, Hitting and Baserunning Instructor

Zach was steady when he played for us at Ventura College. He never looked like he was playing hard, but looks are deceiving. Zach has the rare ability to make even the most difficult play look easy. That's how he teaches. He's never too high or too low. Ventura College Head Coach Don Adams preaches about now riding a roller coaster. Zach is his poster boy. The camp players will know what to expect from Zach every day. He will be huge part of our program for years to come.

Mike Yingling
Catching and Hitting Instructor
The Captain and the coach. That's what he does. He leads by example and because of the example he sets his teammates listen and follow his lead. Yinger will become a great coach in the future and we are lucky to have this gifted young man in our program. His toughness will remind many people of a tougher era. He's throwback. I'm not sure where Yinger will play next year, but whoever gets him will get a young man who knows one thing.......how to win.

"I put my first uniform on when I was four and I still wear one 45 years later. Every time I put my uniform on I still feel like the little kid from Saticoy. For the past 26 years my baseball uniform has been my business suit. What I have learned about my profession is that the men who succeed in the game for a long period of time surround themselves with the best coaches they can find. That's only half the battle. You then have to shed your ego and allow them to teach without micro managing. The 2009 summer coaching staff is as good a group as you will find. This staff knows the game, they understand the mechanics of the game's physical movements, they understand the game's nauances and they can teach. They approach coaching with enthusiasm and respect for the game. They enjoy working with our country's most iimportant natural resource, which is the youth of America. You will find that your young people are being taught baseball and life skills by leaders, who deserve the time honored title known as "A Baseball Man". I'm excited that they are part of our organization."
